FinHub Verify · V-CIP

A human-led Video-based Customer Identification Process built to RBI guidelines — liveness, face match, document capture and geotagged consent, sealed to a record that holds up in an inspection.

The Challenge

Remote onboarding still has to survive an inspection

V-CIP removes the branch visit, not the evidentiary burden. Months later you must produce what happened, who conducted it and what the customer consented to.

Sessions assembled from a video file in one system, consent in another and the decision in a spreadsheet are hard to reconstruct and easy to challenge.

The officer's time is the scarce resource. Anything they type by hand during a call is time not spent on the judgement they are there to make.

Capabilities

What the session produces

A compliant interaction, and the evidence that it was one.

A trained official runs the session

V-CIP is defined by who conducts it. The officer sees the customer live, asks the questions the process requires, and makes the call — the tooling supports that judgement rather than replacing it.

  • Live interaction between the official and the customer
  • Officer-controlled flow, with prompts for each required step
  • Decision recorded against the official who made it

Geotagged, time-stamped consent

The evidentiary weight of a V-CIP session is in the metadata as much as the video. Location and timing are captured with the session rather than reconstructed afterwards.

  • Consent captured on the call, against the stated purpose
  • Location and timestamp recorded with the session
  • Customer presence in India evidenced where the process requires it

Liveness, face match and document capture

The same checks the automated product runs, with the officer present to judge anything ambiguous — which is the point of having them there.

  • Liveness confirmed during the live session
  • Face matched against the identity document
  • Document fields extracted by OCR rather than typed by the officer

The record an examiner will ask for

A V-CIP session's value in an inspection is whether you can produce it intact, months later, with everything that happened attached.

  • Session recording retained with its checks and decision
  • Encrypted storage, sealed to a tamper-evident audit trail
  • Retrievable per customer for inspection or dispute

How a session runs

Join to sealed record

The officer drives the session; the platform captures the evidence around it.

Customer joins

From a scheduled slot or a queue, on their own device — no branch visit.

FAQ

Video KYC (V-CIP) — common questions

What V-CIP requires, why the official is mandatory, and what has to be kept.

Video-based Customer Identification Process is the RBI-defined method for onboarding a customer remotely through a live video interaction conducted by a trained official of the regulated entity. It is set out in the Master Direction on KYC, and it is what allows a bank or NBFC to complete customer identification without a branch visit.
